Pour Foam
Materials:
1. 2-part polyurethane expanding pour foam
2. Protective gloves
3. Safety glasses
4. Two equal volume containers for measuring
5. A large container for mixing
6. Mixing stick
7. Ventilation mask/respirator (to prevent inhalation of harmful fumes)
Safety Precautions:
Always work in a well-ventilated area and use a face mask to avoid inhaling the foam's fumes. The foam is sticky and can be difficult to remove, so wear gloves and old clothes. Avoid getting it in your eyes by wearing safety glasses.
Instructions:
1. **Measure the Foam**: Pour equal volumes of both parts of the polyurethane foam into the two measuring containers.
2. **Prepare Your Work Area**: The foam will expand significantly, so ensure that your work area is protected. Use a drop cloth or newspaper to protect surrounding areas if needed.
3. **Mix the Foam**: Pour the two components into the large mixing container. Stir the mixture thoroughly until it is well-blended. Keep in mind that you only have about 45 seconds of working time before the foam starts to expand and becomes more difficult to handle.
4. **Pour the Foam**: Immediately after mixing, pour the foam into the area where you want it to expand. The foam will start to expand quickly, so pour it as evenly as possible.
5. **Let it Cure**: Allow the foam to expand and cure fully. This can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours, depending on the amount used. Do not disturb the foam while it is expanding or curing.
6. **Trim Excess Foam**: Once the foam has fully cured, you can trim any excess foam with a sharp knife or saw. Be careful not to damage any surrounding materials or surfaces.
